CatalystUI began with a question I could never quite let go: why does building simple, native, cross-platform software so often feel harder than it should? For years, I tried the usual answers—web frameworks, desktop toolkits, low-level APIs, game engines, rendering libraries—and kept running into the same walls: unnecessary complexity, arbitrary limitations, and compromises that felt more like assumptions than truths. I didn’t want another workaround. I wanted to understand what was actually happening between a human, a computer, and the information moving between them.
That search became CatalystUI: a model and framework for describing how digital data becomes something we can see, hear, feel, and interact with. Instead of treating user interfaces as only buttons, windows, and pixels, CatalystUI steps back and looks at the full conversation between people and systems—data, structure, components, rendering, windows, hardware, and the user’s own intent. The goal is not to replace every tool developers already use, but to give those tools a clearer foundation: a shared language for understanding why interfaces work, where they break down, and how they can be built with more clarity, performance, and care.
At its heart, CatalystUI is hopeful. It comes from the belief that computing can be simpler without being weaker, powerful without being bloated, and technical without losing sight of the human being on the other side of the screen. This is still the beginning, but the vision is steady: to help developers see computing more clearly, build with more confidence, and create software that feels natural, intentional, and human.
